David Williams is the Service Director at Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre, Active Care Group’s 27-bed neurological rehabilitation service in York. A qualified mental health nurse since 1999, David has built an extensive career across complex care settings, including neuropsychiatric services, secure hospitals, psychiatric intensive care, and supported living. He has held senior leadership roles such as Hospital Director and Peripatetic Service Director, supporting services nationwide to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

David is passionate about reducing restrictive practices, supporting individuals with complex behavioural needs, and helping teams deliver excellent clinical outcomes. His work focuses on developing robust rehabilitation models and pathways that enable people to achieve greater independence and successfully transition back into community life.

Originally from the North East, David is an avid mountain climber and enjoys playing bass guitar in his spare time.
