Kirsty Hawkes

Occupational Therapy Technician

Kirsty has worked at Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre for 24 years across both the care and therapy departments. While working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, she discovered her passion for enabling patients to take part in activities that bring them joy, recognising the importance of a holistic approach to rehabilitation. This led her to take on the role of Activities Coordinator, where she has since organised a wide range of engaging experiences for patients at Woodlands, including themed evenings, group sessions, and special events.

Some of the highlights she has coordinated include visits from retired racehorses, interactive animal visits, and even taking patients ice skating — demonstrating that with creativity and determination, almost anything is possible, even in a wheelchair.

Outside of work, Kirsty enjoys walking in the countryside, often accompanied by her Cocker Spaniel, who also serves as a therapy dog at Woodlands.
