Following a road traffic accident and subsequent spinal cord injury, Ele’s recovery was excelled by the introduction of the ExoMotus M4.
Ele originally required a wheelchair to mobilise alongside crutches for shorter distances. Prior to her accident, Ele was fit and active and used to enjoy hill walking, as well as walking along the beach near her home. She also enjoyed family time with her sons and granddaughter.
Using the ExoMotus M4 multi-purposely as a standing tool alongside stepping and walking, Ele has been able to work on her upper limb as well as core strength whilst in a standing position, as the ExoMotus M4 stabilises her legs and allows her to stand upright. The Therapist team have been working with Ele to improve her strength, mobility and function. Now she can mobilise independently short distances. She for the first time since her accident was able to go bowling with her family and take part with the help of her partner.
One of Ele’s goals was to hold her granddaughters’ hand and walk alongside her in public. She also wanted to be able to attend her son’s outdoor sporting events. As a result of her hard work and determination alongside the support of the rehabilitation technology, she was able to walk and watch her son perform in his athletics competitions. Ele’s function has immensely improved, and she is now able to do things she never thought she could.
