Functional independence, admission to discharge.
FIM+FAM outcomes for 64 discharged stays across all Active Neuro centres, April to September 2026.
Mean gain by FIM+FAM subcategory.
The FIM+FAM splits its 36 items into motor and cognitive domains. Both show strong change from admission to discharge: 8.68 points in motor function and 11.84 in cognitive function.
The clinical banding for meaningful and substantial change applies to the total score only; it has not been validated for the individual domains.
Each of the 36 items is scored 1 to 7. Across 64 discharged stays the mean total rose from 80.10 on admission to 98.97 at discharge, a gain of 18.87 points.
Validated measures, alongside individual goals.
Thirty-six items across motor and cognitive function, grouped into self care, bladder and bowel, mobility, communication, psychosocial adjustment and extended daily living.
Ten activities of daily living, scored on admission and discharge alongside the FIM+FAM.
Functional gain divided by length of stay, so the pace of recovery can be read alongside the size of it. 21.9% of patients achieve a high or very high efficiency score.
Goal-specific and clinical measures set with each person on admission, reviewed at every progress meeting.
Outcome reporting throughout the placement.
Outcome measures are collected on admission and discharge, with progress meetings at 2, 6 and 10 weeks and regular progress reports in between. Case managers, solicitors, insurers and commissioners receive structured outcome reporting for the people they refer. For anything else about our outcomes, get in touch.
